An Improved Medical Image Compression Method Based on Wavelet Difference Reduction

Advanced microscopic techniques such as high-throughput, high-content, multispectral, and 3D imaging could include many images per experiment requiring hundreds of gigabytes (GBs) memory. Efficient lossy image-compression methods joint photographic experts group (JPEG) JPEG 2000 are crucial to managing these large amounts data. However, can get visual quality with high compression ratios but do not necessarily maintain the medical data information integrity. This paper proposes a novel improved image method based on color wavelet difference reduction. Specifically, proposed is an extension standard reduction (WDR) using mean co-located pixel select optimum quantity that present highest similarity in spatial temporal domain. The spatiotemporal coherence encoded one volume evaluated regarding peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) structural index (SSIM). challenging histopathological microscopy analysis field 31 slides colorectal cancer.
